Do you know of any special caregivers in your life? Someone who may have taken it upon his/herself to care for and look after another ill friend, or someone who even took a leave of absence to make sure their family member was able to make those hospital trips?

Maybe you don’t have time or money for lavish gifts, or maybe you want to give something more meaningful.

Well, it’s that time of the year where care-gifting and exchanging gifts are upon us- so what better way to show your favourite caregiver some love?

Here are 10 Meaningul gift ideas for the caregiver in your life:

1.     Volunteer to help around the house by doing laundry and making beds. This is especially helpful to those with large families. But make sure to ask about certain items that may need dry-cleaning!

2.     Offer to be their personal chef for the day. Either plan a sit-down meal, or order a small catering/take-out service that fits everyone’s diet.

3.     Chauffeur! Sometimes it is best to just offer a carpool, or ask to pick up children from activities. It can help keep their fuel costs down as well.

4.     Run errands but make sure to do so in a timely manner.  Pick up some coffee, make a trip to the post office, pick up the dry-cleaning, etc.

5.     Babysit! This can be a massive help to those with young children. If you can, offer to help out over a weekend or let the caregiver have a night out.

6.     Does their garden need cleaning, or does the lawn need a mow? Pick a nice day to tidy up their property and water the plants.

7.     Does your caregiver have pets? Ask if they have vet appointments and then arrange to take them, or alternatively offer to walk their pets 2 times a week.

8.     Event planning. If your caregiver is having a birthday, or a holiday is coming up- arrange a time to decorate or plan a dinner out to celebrate.

9.     Be a personal shopper and ask your caregiver to write out a list of food or toiletries they might have to buy- then go shop for them.

10.  If you have enough money to do so, plan a spa-day for your caregiver. Anything from a manicure to a massage will help them relax!
